Are you going to work? Attending a meeting or two? Taxiing the kids to their activities? Running errands? Doing laundry and dishes? Mowing the lawn? Watching TV? Getting the car serviced? Paying some bills? Or not paying some bills? Consider for a few moments all of the things that you want to accomplish today, all of the things that you need to do in order to maintain your current lifestyle.
Now ask yourself — What are you doing today that will move you closer to living your dreams?
Are crickets chirping right now?
It might surprise you to know that the difference between wildly successful people and those who barely scrape by can be boiled down to a single concept:
Sound too simple? Well, it is and it isn’t.
It is… because you can literally change your life through a few small daily steps.
And it isn’t… because most people don’t take the right steps. They confuse being busy with being productive.
Ben Franklin, a guy who unquestionably accomplished a lot, said “Never confuse motion with action.” Yet that’s exactly what most of us do. We fill our days with near-frantic activity and at the end of the week, the month, the year, we’re no better off – we’re no closer to happiness, health, or financial security.
So how do we tell the difference between busy-work and progress? How do we know what steps to take each day? Which small actions each day will move us gradually, inevitably toward living the life we desire?
I can help you with that. And not because I’m a genius.
Truth is, we don’t have to puzzle over these questions; they’ve already been answered. As Tony Robbins says, “Success leaves clues”.
Successful people have been studied, and interviewed, and questioned, and examined, and studied some more. Their habits have been captured in books and articles and blogs and presentations and training courses and more books. Over the years – centuries, in fact – patterns have emerged.
Do they all have the exact same daily habits? Nope.
But are there common themes that you can put to use in your own life? You bet your ass there are.
Over the next eight weeks, I’m going to share with you some of the most effective daily habits, the ones most often used and encouraged by people who are already living their ideal lifestyle. Each of them small in terms of time consumption, but profound in their overall impact.
In the meantime, consider the things you already do on a daily basis that move you closer to your dream lifestyle. What are they? What results have you seen from them? Do you do them every day, or only when your other activities allow time? Are there habits you know would propel you forward but you haven’t started them yet? What are they and what’s holding you back? Give some thought to what you’re already doing and what you know you’d like to start doing.
And recognize that there’s never been a better time than Right Now to begin living the life you’ve always wanted.
See you next week!
